Ingredient Notes
Sirloin Steak Tips
- top sirloin steak or tenderloin: I recommend a tender cut of beef so that your steak tips are tender and juicy rather than tough. Chuck roast, or stew meat, is a tougher cut of steak and works best when made in the slow cooker. For this recipe, I recommend sirloin or beef tenderloin cut into bite-sized pieces
- avocado oil
- butter or ghee: can sub vegan for dairy-free
- garlic cloves
- red onions
- pita bread
- Sea salt and black pepper to taste
Horseradish Cream Cheese
- cream cheese dairy-free or regular
- horseradish sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Cut and Season The Steak: Cut the steak against the grain into 1-inch cubes. Season the steak pieces with salt and pepper.
- Preheat Skillet: Preheat a cast iron skillet or large skillet of choice over medium-high heat. Add 2 tbsp avocado oil and let it heat until simmering.
- Sear the Steak Tips: Place the beef tips in the hot skillet in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook in batches if needed. Sear the steak tips for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they develop a nice crust. Adjust the heat if necessary to prevent burning.
- Add Butter and Garlic: Right before the steak is done cooking, add in the butter and whole garlic cloves. Allow the garlic cloves to sit and simmer in melted butter for 30 seconds. Mix the sirloin tips into the garlic butter. Season again with salt and pepper if desired.
- Sauté Red Onions: Place a skillet or sauté pan over medium heat. Add a tablespoon of avocado oil to the pan. Allow it to heat up, but be careful not to let it smoke. Once the oil or butter is hot, add the sliced red onions to the pan and season with salt. Spread the onions out in an even layer to ensure they cook evenly. Stir the onions frequently to prevent them from sticking to the pan and to ensure even cooking. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they become translucent and start to caramelize.
- Heat Pita Bread: Heat the pita bread as desired in the oven, air fryer, or toaster.
- Make Horseradish Cream Cheese: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, horseradish, and salt/pepper. Use a spatula or hand mixer to blend the ingredients thoroughly. Ensure an even distribution of horseradish throughout the cream cheese
- Assemble: Add the cream cheese spread to the pita along with the red onions and steak tips. Enjoy!

The most important thing is to not overcook them! For delicious steak bites with maximum tenderness you’ll want to cook them as directed in the recipe card– just 2-3 minutes per side. Overcooking them could result in chewy, rubbery steak.

Love everything I try of yours! This one was another hit! I did skip the steak though and swapped it out for your ranch roast instead! It was amazing! Flavor combo was delicious!
I absolutely love the idea of using my ranch roast instead. Genius! Glad you enjoyed it.
What can I sub for the avocado oil?
Olive oil would work great!
