How to Make This Recipe
Ingredient Notes
Chopped Pork Bites
Pork Loin: For this recipe I use boneless pork, fat cap removed, and cut it into 2” pieces.
Olive Oil: You can also use avocado oil if you wish.
Salt and Pepper: To taste.
Garlic Honey Sauce
Garlic: You can mince fresh garlic or use a jar of minced garlic, whichever you prefer.
Honey: You can also use sugar-free syrup for keto
Dried Chili Flakes: Use more or less depending on your preferred spice level.
Chicken Broth: You can also use chicken stock or chicken bone broth.
Coconut Aminos: You can find these at Trader Joe’s, Sprouts, Whole Foods, and other local grocery stores.
Xanthan Gum: This is a thickening agent for the sauce. Feel free to sub tapioca starch if that is what you have on hand.
Step by Step
- Cook the Pork: Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the chopped pork bites in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side until the edges are crispy and browned and the internal temperature is 145F. Be sure to drain any excess liquid. This will help get that nice crisp. Remove the pork from the skillet and set them aside.
- Sautèe the Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant, around 30 seconds.
- Make the Garlic Honey Sauce: Add the chicken broth, coconut aminos, honey, and red pepper flakes. Whisk together and heat for a minute or two. Add the xanthan gum and stir in until smooth and thick, about 30 seconds.
- Combine: Add the chopped pork back to the skillet and toss until evenly coated.
Mac’s Pro Tips
Alternative Protein: While I love these with chopped pork, you could also use chicken or steak. The sauce is delicious on any meat, including shrimp!
Keto-Option: To make this recipe keto, simply replace the honey with a sugar-free honey alternative like Lakanto Syrup, or one of your favorites!
Yes! Just substitute the honey for a keto-friendly syrup or sugar-free syrup. If you make this substitution, a serving is 284 calories, 5 net carbs, and 33 grams of protein!
This garlic honey is such a delicious sauce for chicken, shrimp, and other proteins. It would even go great with stir-fried veggies. It’s easy to whip up and absolutely delicious!
