What Makes This Recipe Great
If you’ve been around this Fall season, you probably know by now that I love Halloween! I actually love to decorate and think of fun, creative food ideas in general, so holidays like this one make me super happy!
I’ve shared my sweet and spooky Halloween charcuterie board, these ghost pizzas, delicious mummy Oreos, and so much more! Today, I’m showing you how to make Spider-themed Ritz Cracker Sandwiches. An easy, no-bake, kid and adult-friendly appetizer or snack!
I love this recipe because while it’s a really fun Halloween treat, it can also be made year-round by just omitting the spider portion. I’ve included lots of recipe variations, too, so whether it’s October or July, these cracker sandwiches will not disappoint! A special treat for any month that’s easy to customize for various dietary preferences.
Ingredients Notes
- round crackers: Stick with the classic Ritz crackers, use a generic, or whichever round cracker is your favorite.
- cream cheese: Use regular or dairy-free cream cheese, depending on your preferences.
- blackberry jam: Or your favorite jam flavor.
- pretzel sticks: Any brand will do!
- candy eyes: These are easy to find online or at your local craft store.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Lay out the round crackers on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the flat side of each cracker, followed by the jam.
- Break the pretzel sticks in half. Take one cracker and add 4 sticks on top of the cream cheese and jam to each side, making a total of 8 legs.
- Put another cracker with the cream cheese and jam on top to create a sandwich.
- Take the candy eyes, add a small dot of cream cheese on each, and place them on the top cracker to create the spider’s eyes.

Recipe Variations
There are really a million ways to make Ritz cracker sandwiches that are both for kids and adults! Plus, the spider part is so easy that it doesn’t really matter what the contents of the sandwich are. Here are some fun ideas in addition to the cream cheese and jam I used in this recipe.
- Meat & Cheese: Slice of ham or turkey or other deli meat, a slice of cheese like cheddar or Colby jack or Swiss cheese, a bit of mayo, and/or Dijon mustard for spread.
- Peanut Butter & Jam: Your favorite nut butter, seed butter, and preserves or jelly!
- Cucumber & Cream Cheese: A bit of cream cheese on both sides and a thinly sliced cucumber in the middle.
- Meatball & Mozzarella: Marinara on both sides and a thin slice of fresh mozzarella and cooked meatball.
- Spreadable Cheese: Cheese whiz on both sides for a cheesy, nostalgic homemade Ritz cracker sandwich!
- Chocolate Marshmallow: Nutella spread on one side, marshmallow fluff on the other!
These cracker sandwiches are easy because they are no-bake, but you can always pop them in the oven for a bit to get them warm and golden brown. You can also drizzle some melted butter on top and add seasonings, poppy seeds, onion flakes, salt and pepper, etc.
Serving Tips
- Serve this spooky spider platter of Ritz cracker sandwiches at your Halloween party or gathering. Or send them to school as a treat for the class.
- If you choose not to do the spider, these can be served year-round!
- You can also put them in your child’s lunch for a fun alternative to regular sandwiches.
Storage Tips
- Store leftover Ritz cracker sandwiches in an airtight container in the refrigerator and eat within 2 days for optimal freshness.
