I hope you love my new favorite method and this recipe becomes a staple in your house like it is in mine! Air frying eggs is truly the BEST!

How to Air Fry Eggs

What I love about using the air fryer to boil eggs is that the traditional method (stove top) requires a lot of active work to make sure they turn out right. For this recipe, all you need is your favorite carton of eggs, an air fryer, and a large bowl filled with ice and water to soak them after they’re done cooking.

To cook, you’ll load up your air fryer basket with fresh eggs in a single layer, set the temperature and time, and watch as it makes perfect eggs every single time!

Ingredient Notes & Equipment

  • Raw Whole Eggs: I used large eggs, so please take note of that when determining the cook time. If using medium eggs, the time may need to be adjusted.
  • Water
  • Ice Cubes
  • Air Fryer
  • Wire Rack
  • Large Bowl

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Place the eggs on the wire rack that came with your air fryer. If you do not have a rack, simply place them in the bottom of the air fryer, making sure not to overcrowd.
  2. Set the temperature to 300 degrees F and cook for 14-15 minutes. This cooking time will yield yolks that are firm and not runny (hard-boiled). If you like your eggs more soft-boiled, I recommend cooking for 11-13 minutes.
  3. While the eggs are cooking, fill a large bowl with ice and cold water. Set aside.
  4. Once the eggs are finished cooking, remove them from the wire basket and transfer them to the large bowl/ice bath for 4-5 minutes to stop the cooking process.
  5. Peel and enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • Depending on how you like your eggs, adjust the cooking time accordingly:
    • For a yolk that is a bit runny, 9-10 minutes
    • For a yolk that is soft but not runny, 11-13 minutes
    • For a yolk that is firm/hard, 14-15 minutes
  • Ice bath: Place the air fried eggs in an ice bath once they have finished cooking. This makes peeling them so much easier.
  • Weekly Meal Prep: Make a big batch of air fryer eggs on Sunday and store them in an airtight container for an easy grab-and-go breakfast or snack option.

Storage Tips

You can store boiled eggs either peeled or unpeeled. Both methods will last about one week in the fridge.

  • Un-Peeled: The best way to store unpeeled hard-boiled eggs is to keep them in a covered container in the refrigerator.
  • Peeled: If the eggs have already been peeled, keep them moist by placing a damp paper towel in the bottom of the container. Place the boiled egg on the damp paper towel and then place another damp paper towel over the top before covering it with the lid.

Recipe FAQs

Is it better to peel air fryer hard boiled eggs when they are hot or cold?

First, you want to stop the eggs from cooking any longer, so it is best to take them from the air fryer and soak the cooked eggs in an ice bath for about 5-10 minutes. After that, they should be cool to touch and peel very easily!

How long do you cook hard-boiled eggs in the air fryer?

This will depend on how runny or firm you like the egg yolks. For me, I love cooking for 14 minutes on 300F. This will get your egg yolk firm and not runny. For a more soft boil, I recommend cooking at 300F for 12 minutes. For runny yolks, I recommend 9-10 minutes. Remember, all air fryers cook differently, so you may need to play around with the time.

Are boiled eggs keto-friendly?

Yes! With less than 1 carb per egg, these air fryer eggs are a great low-carb addition to any meal and a great way to add extra protein to your diet. Plus, there’s only 63 calories per egg!
