The Best Paleo Apple Crumble Bars

Fall is peeking around the corner and all I want to do is light all my fall candles and bake. In my opinion, fall is the best time of the year and always brings with it amazing food and smells. My new Paleo Apple Crumble Bars are out of this world amazing. They are sticky, sweet and the perfect fall dessert.

The crust is fabulous and is my go to crust for all my baking needs. You seriously won’t even believe it is gluten free and Paleo and can even be tailored to Keto. I mix almond flour, pecans, maple syrup, arrowroot, salt, vanilla and ghee. It might seem super simple, but it is seriously so dang good. If you want to make this keto, simply remove the maple syrup and use monk fruit syrup, that is keto compliant.

Apple Crumble Bars

The apple filling for these bars is so simple, yet full of flavor. It is only peeled apples, maple syrup, coconut sugar, water, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and lemon juice. To thicken the filling, I used arrowroot flour and it gave it the perfect gooey consistency.

My favorite part of this recipe is the crumble top. It gives the bars the perfect texture and crunch. I used pecans, salt, cinnamon almond flour and maple syrup and combined using a food processor. In addition to this recipe, I also like using this crumble recipe to add to yogurt or smoothie bowls. It. Is. So. GOOD!!!

How long can you store these Paleo Apple Crumble Bars?

Probably not long because you will be tempted to eat them all in one sitting. If you have will power you can store these in aluminum foil or an air tight container for up to 2 weeks. You can add to the fridge or even leave them out at room temperature. I recommend heating up in the microwave for 30 seconds before serving. It taste pretty close to warm apple pie!!!

Can you make these Apple Crumble Bars Keto compliant?

Apple is pretty high in carbs, so it isn’t really doable to create this recipe to fit perfectly in the Keto framework. However, if you are looking to make this lower sugar, feel free to swap out for low carb and low sugar sweeteners of choice. Below are my favorite all natural sweeteners low in sugar.

Description

These Apple Crumble Bars are the perfect warm, sticky and sweet treat for fall. Made with simple and clean ingredients it is perfect for Paleo . Gluten free and Dairy Free living.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 3 1/2 cups chopped apples, peeled ((or 3 medium apples))
  • 1 1/2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tsp arrowroot flour
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

Crust

Crumble

  • 1 cup pecans
  • 2 tbsp almond flour
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • pinch salt
  • pinch cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare a 9×9 baking pan with cooking spray or parchment paper and preheat the oven to 425F.
  2. Heat a sauce pan over medium heat. Peel and chop apples.
  3. In the sauce pan add all the ingredients except for the arrowroot flour to the pan and stir with a spoon. Allow mixture to heat for 3 minutes, then add the arrowroot flour, stir until combined and cook until the mixture becomes thick.
  4. In a food processor, add all of the ingredients for the crust and process until mixture becomes a dough consistency.
  5. Transfer the dough to the baking pan and spread out until it covers the bottom of the pan completely. Pour the apple filling over the top of the dough and spread out until there is an even layer.
  6. In the food processor, add the crumble ingredients and pulse until it becomes a crumble texture. Spread evenly over the apple filling and transfer to the oven.
  7. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until the top is browned and middle is set.
  8. Serve with dairy free vanilla ice cream and enjoy. (see notes for my keto and dairy free recipe)

  • My family really enjoyed this recipe. I’ve also started just making the apple mixture and serving it like buttery stewed apples . (Lazy dessert) My husband asks for the apples regularly.
