Ingredient Notes

recipe ingredients in small containers and labeled.

Creamsicle Cocktail/Mocktail

  • coconut water
  • coconut milk: I used a can of unsweetened coconut milk. You can substitute heavy cream if desired. Don’t skip this— it’s what makes this creamy drink so perfect!
  • fresh orange juice
  • maple syrup or simple syrup
  • lime juice
  • non-alcoholic tequila or regular blanco tequila: You can also substitute unflavored vodka or vanilla vodka/whipped cream vodka if you like a sweet cocktail. For zero-proof substitutes, I like the Ritual brand.

Toasted Coconut Rim

  • toasted coconut
  • lime and orange zest
  • honey or agave syrup

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Rim: Mix together toasted coconut and the zest of 1/2 lemon and lime on a plate. Add honey to the side of the glass and roll in the toasted coconut mixture.
  2. Margarita: Add creamsicle drink ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice cubes and shake for 30 seconds. Strain over a glass of ice! Garnish with a dried orange slice and top with a little whipped cream if desired.

Mac’s Pro TipS

Expert Tips & Variations

  • To make an orange creamsicle cocktail recipe instead of a mocktail, simply use your favorite blanco tequila or vodka. Even rum would work if that’s your preferred liquor. You can also add in a bit of triple sec, grand marnier, or Cointreau for added orange flavor.
  • This creamsicle drink is dairy-free. However, you can use regular milk or cream if desired.
  • To make this drink vegan, use agave syrup instead of honey. All other ingredients remain the same.
  • For a blended version of this delicious cocktail, dump all the ingredients into your blender with ice and blend for 1 minute. Then pour into your rimmed glass and enjoy!
  • I recommend making this drink as you plan to serve it, but if you do make extra, store it covered in the fridge, without ice. Once ready to serve, pour into a tall glass of ice.
