Why You’ll Love This Recipe

If you’re looking for a refreshing, fruity throwback, this Hawaiian Punch Refresher is it. It has a sweet, vibrant flavor with cherries, strawberries, pineapple, and a touch of citrus. Coconut water keeps it naturally hydrating, while a squeeze of lemon and lime and a pinch of salt help balance everything out. I like to use frozen fruit here; it’s convenient, budget-friendly, and blends perfectly. There are no artificial colors or syrups, just simple ingredients that come together into a drink you’ll want to make on repeat, whether it’s after a workout or just because you need something cold and refreshing.

After sharing 30 other flavors in this series, I’m so excited to keep it going! If you’ve missed any, don’t worry, I have a roundup of all the flavors on my website. And be sure to check out my “Gatorade Series” highlight on Instagram for even more flavors. You can also watch the step-by-step video here.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Coconut Water: The ultimate hydration hero. Packed with natural electrolytes like potassium, it’s light, refreshing, and helps replenish what your body loses when you sweat.
  • Mixed Fruit: Oranges, apples, cherries, pineapples and strawberries.
  • Lime Juice: Adds a bright, tart kick that balances the sweetness and helps your body absorb those electrolytes.
  • Salt: Just a pinch of mineral-rich salt (I love Celtic Sea Salt) to support hydration and replace sodium lost through sweat.
  • Honey or Maple Syrup: A touch of natural sweetness to round out the fruit flavors—you can swap for your favorite sugar-free option if desired.

A healthier ’90s throwback! My Hawaiian Punch Refresher blends cherries, strawberries, pineapple, and citrus with coconut water for natural electrolytes. Lightly sweetened and super hydrating.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 5 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups coconut water: can sub filtered water here or decaf green tea) However coconut water is the best option as it’s a natural electrolyte.
  • Juice of 1 lemon + 1 lime
  • 1 cup cherries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1 medium red apple
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2-3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup orange juice per glass added separately or blend 1 large orange, peeled to the fruit mix

Instructions

  • Add the coconut water, lemon and lime juice, cherries, strawberries, pineapple, apple, salt, and maple syrup to a high-speed blender. Blend on high for 30–60 seconds, until completely smooth.
  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a pitcher to remove pulp (optional, but recommended for a smoother drink).
  • Pour over ice. For a layered look, slowly pour about 1/4 cup orange juice over the top of each glass. Garnish with an orange wedge and fresh cherries, if desired.
