Y’all, this week’s homemade Gatorade flavor is bringing serious nostalgia. We’re making an all-natural Blue Raspberry electrolyte drink that tastes shockingly close to the real thing, minus the neon dyes and mystery ingredients. If you loved Glacier Freeze growing up, this one’s gonna feel like a hug from your childhood, just cleaner and way better for you!
Why You’ll Love This Blue Raspberry Gatorade
Each week, I’ve been dropping new homemade sports drink flavors using real ingredients to hydrate and refuel naturally. And if you’ve missed any, I’ve saved them all in the “Homemade Gatorade” highlight on Instagram.
This one is all about that tart, citrusy vibe layered with sweet berry notes and finished off with a vibrant blue top, no fake colors needed. The secret? A touch of citric acid gives it that mouth-puckering tang that hits just right.
Ingredients You’ll Need
- Coconut Water: A natural source of electrolytes and potassium, perfect for post-workout hydration or hot summer days.
- Aloe Vera Juice: Adds extra hydration support and soothes the body from the inside out.
- Lemon: Brings a bold, bright citrus punch and balances the sweetness with a little zing.
- Raspberries: Juicy, tart, and vibrant, these add depth of flavor and a beautiful natural pink hue.
- Salt: Replenishes sodium lost through sweat and helps balance hydration.
- Honey or Maple Syrup: For a naturally sweet finish that doesn’t overpower.
- Blue Spirulina: Gives that gorgeous electric blue color and a dose of antioxidants. No artificial dye needed.
- Citric Acid (Optional): Adds that nostalgic, tart kick that makes it taste like the real deal.
How to Make Blue Raspberry Gatorade
Step 1: In a blender, combine the lemon raspberry layer ingredients: coconut water, aloe vera juice, peeled lemon, raspberries, salt, sweetener, and citric acid (if using). Blend until smooth, then strain and pour over ice in two glasses.
Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together the blue layer ingredients (coconut water, dissolved honey, and blue spirulina) until fully combined.
Step 3: Gently float the blue layer on top of the lemon raspberry layer using the back of a spoon for a layered effect.
Step 4: Stir before drinking and garnish with a lemon wedge and fresh raspberries, if desired.
