Ingredients

Mocktail

  • 2 tsp honey or sub powdered monk fruit
  • 1 oz coconut milk or milk of choice
  • 1/2 oz chocolate ganache from above
  • 2 oz freshly brewed espresso or strong brewed coffee

Cold Foam Topping

  • 1/4 cup milk or milk alternative barista-style almond milk works well
  • Sweetener to taste honey or monk fruit

Chocolate Ganache (makes enough for 5-6 drinks)

  • 1/3 cup dairy-free or regular chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp whole milk or coconut milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chocolate Ganache: In a small bowl, microwave the chocolate chips and almond milk in 15-second intervals, stirring until smooth and melted. Stir in the vanilla extract and set aside to cool slightly.
  • Make the Mocktail Base: In a cocktail shaker, add the honey to the espresso while hot. Allow to chill in the fridge for 5 mins. Once cooled, add in 1/2 oz chocolate ganache, milk or milk alternative. Add ice and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well-chilled and frothy.
  • Froth Milk: In a separate jar or milk frother, add 1/4 cup of milk and sweetener. Froth until thick and foamy.
  • Strain the espresso mixture into a martini or coupe glass. Gently spoon the cold foam on top. Sprinkle with espresso powder or cocoa powder.

Notes

  • Using a high quality espresso makes all the difference. The richer the espresso, the better the flavor. A shot of espresso or cold brew works well if you’re in a pinch.
  • Barista-style oat milk or almond milk creates the best frothy topping.
  • Serving this in frosted martini glasses keeps it cool and classy.
  • Brew your espresso and prepare the ganache in advance for easy assembly.
