Servings: 10 cups popped popcorn

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels
  • 2-3 tablespoons Avocado Oil
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill weed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried mustard powder
  • 2 tsp nutritional yeast
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tbsp pickle juice added to a spray bottle

Optional:

  • 1/2 cup melted butter with 2-3 tbsp pickle juice use vegan butter for DF

Instructions

  • Heat the avocado oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat.
  • Add the popcorn kernels to the pot and cover it with a lid. Shake the pot occasionally to ensure even popping.
  • While the popcorn is popping, mix the dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, dried mustard powder, nutritional yeast, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
  • Once the popping slows down, remove the pot from heat and let it sit for a moment to ensure any remaining kernels pop. Add the pickle juice to a spray bottle and lightly mist the popcorn. Don’t overdo it because it will make the popcorn soggy. If desired add in some melted butter also.(You can also omit the pickle juice in the spray bottle and add pickle juice to melted butter and then pour over popcorn.)
  • Sprinkle the dill mixture over the popcorn and toss gently, coating it evenly with the seasoning. Enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • The spray bottle is the real winner in this recipe. It’s an amazing way to spray the popcorn with the pickle juice without oversaturating and making it soggy.
  • Feel free also to add melted butter to the popcorn if desired.
  • I love an easy snack like this because they also make great gifts. Add to a fun popcorn tin with a gift tag and give to friends and family.
  • I made homemade popcorn for this recipe, but you can always use microwave popcorn. Spray the pickle juice and sprinkle the dill pickle seasoning over it.

Storage Tips

Store leftover dill pickle popcorn in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, not that it will last that long!
