About Me

Welcome! I’m Mac, the CEO, and founder of HLP. I’m also the lady behind the recipes and camera. I believe we can find comfort in all food. All of my recipes are made with lots of hard work and love.

What is Healthy Little Peach All About?

I’m a mother of two beautiful girls, Eloise and Eleanor, and a wife to my amazing husband, Joel. Here at HLP, we believe in living a healthy lifestyle that consists of a mix of healthy whole foods, and full-fat comfort meals. Life is too short not to enjoy good food while maintaining a healthy body and mind. Here you will find gluten-free, dairy-free, paleo, keto, and even full-fat comfort recipes. I share these recipes because for almost 6 years I lived dairy-free and Paleo. I also tried Clean Keto for a period of time and did really enjoy the recipes. During this time I also created a ton of resources and meal plans that can support you on whatever journey you are on.

Now I incorporate all of these recipes into my lifestyle. Just because I share a variety of recipes doesn’t mean I am ever on a specific diet. I create these recipes to help meet all of your dietary and allergy needs. All the recipes I create are full of love and hard work. I also keep family in mind when developing and preparing recipes.

My hope is that these recipes can inspire you to get in the kitchen and make a happy mess with your family and friends. Cooking can be so fun and rewarding. The goal is not only to encourage but also to show that you can live a balanced and healthy life and find comfort in ALL foods.

My Story

Back in 2014, I hit rock bottom and it totally transformed my life, both physically and mentally. I struggled with infertility, and depression and I was extremely overweight. I was also diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), which is a hormonal disorder. After the diagnosis, I decided to take my life back. I changed my eating habits, lost 80 pounds, and was even able to conceive two beautiful girls. And although I lost weight, it was still a daily struggle in finding food freedom.

Disordered Eating

I have been on a diet ever since I was a child. It has been a constant pattern of diet and binge, diet binge. It has repeated itself every single year in the most exhausting way. I have been 115 pounds and I’ve been 220 pounds. In high school and college, I struggled with an eating disorder that amplified all my fears around food. Food has always been my biggest battle in life. Some days all I thought about was food. Food and the guilt I felt when I would eat. Through this battle, however, I have become such a strong woman and have learned amazing things about myself.

Today, I am working to break that cycle and enjoy all foods. My relationship with food through the years has really been tarnished, but today I am healing and have never been happier in my life. I’m learning that I can enjoy all food in a healthy and balanced way without the diet and binge cycle.

Healing is happening every single day and the happiness I feel in my heart and around food is only intensifying. My main goal is to raise my girls with self-love and a foundation to enjoy all foods in a healthy way. NO foods should be restricted unless there is an allergy. I never want them to repeat the hardships I have faced around food.

The truth is, my journey isn’t over. I still fight every day to be the best version of myself. Some days I’m successful and others are messy. Real life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Every day is another opportunity to grow and learn. I am so blessed to have gone through all my storms so that I can enjoy the sunshine when it peeks through.

My blog has given me so much peace. Not only am I able to share yummy recipes, but also to connect with others who have faced or who are currently facing the same thing. This community has made my storms easier to walk through. My hopes are always that you take something away from my blog. We are all in this together!

Wife & Husband Duo

I started my blog 6 1/2 years ago while I was an elementary teacher. I wanted to share my story along with sharing recipes. Even though I have struggled with food my entire life, I’ve always loved to cook. Before my blog, I had a side cupcake business called Sweet Little Things Co. During this time I was featured on The Food Network and competed in Cupcake Wars.

Through hard work, I was able to build my business and blog and left my teaching career 3 years ago. The past 3 years it has grown so much that my husband Joel was able to leave his job as a Health Administrator and work with me full-time. He is my right hand and I am not sure how I ever did it without him.

Joel is the best business partner and coworker, but an even better husband and daddy. Life is so fun by his side!
